Enhancing Dexterity in Extreme Conditions
The Critical Role of Tactile Sensitivity
In extreme operational environments, maintaining tactile sensitivity and dexterity is paramount. Operators often face the challenge of needing protection from harsh elements while still maintaining the ability to perform intricate tasks. IHMC Haptic Gloves are designed to bridge this gap, offering superior protection without sacrificing the fine motor skills necessary for mission success. By preserving the natural feel and movement of the hand, these gloves ensure that operators can handle tools, weapons, and controls with precision and confidence, even in the most demanding conditions.
The Issues With Standard Gloves
Gloves Significantly reduce the tactile feedback we receive from object interaction
- Difficulty manipulating small objects; controls, buttons, touchscreen displays, zippers, etc.
- Gloves typically must be removed to complete all aspects of most tasks
- Removing gloves can result in cold-weather or job related hand injuries.

Our Solution
A durable cold-weather glove outfitted with two innovative features: a Tactile Selector for touch screen and control interface, and a Tactile Node that enables the wearer to receive tactile feedback from objects held in hand.
Research & Development
Our haptic gloves combine two key innovations; the Tactile Selector, and Tactile Node.
The Tactile Selector is a novel development in glove touch screen interface technology which improves haptic feedback when manipulating digital touch screens and other controls.
The Tactile Node provides direct haptic feedback to the fingertip to facilitate optimal control over the pressure applied to control interfaces.

Tactile Node
Deployed in key areas around the fingertips and palms to provide tactile sensitivity and facilitate grip.

Tactile Selector
Provides superior touch screen capabilities.
